Your historic tour starts by a visit to our tourists’ most loved old ship models factory. There you will watch the art of miniaturization mastered by the experienced craftsmen in producing replicas of ships of the Mauritian colonisation period and those encountered in the Spice and Silk Routes. You will enjoy a nice presentation by the guide about the production process. Only the finest materials are used for the production of our ship models. Buy a replica to bring back home as a souvenir or gift and benefit from a tax refund at the airport and a certificate of authenticity! Our next stop will be at the typical colonial estate, Domaine des Aubineaux, which dates back from 1819. Enter this ancient estate colonial house of the French occupation which has been now transformed into a museum. At the Plantation House, you will get acquainted with the production of vanilla and anthurium flowers. You will be entitled to join a visit to the old sugar factory of the estate and St. Aubin Rum tasting at the end of your visit. You may wish to buy some rum and sugar at the estate souvenir shop. The next part of your excursion will be at the Tea Plantation House of Bois Chéri for lunch and tea tasting at the plantation’s chalet.
